Founding Member Interview: In Conversation with Jeremy Slater, Regional GM at ALTIDO
1.) Welcome to The Luxury Property Forum! How long has ALTIDO been around for and what does the name stand for?
ALTIDO as a single entity was formed a year ago when four leading short-term rental providers across Europe merged on the basis that we are stronger together, can learn from one another and can maintain high standards of hospitality coupled with unique, local knowledge. ALTIDO literally stands for "A Life That I Dream Of" and is a promise to our customers that their holiday, business trip or extended stay will be everything they expected and more.
2.) How did ALTIDO begin?
ALTIDO was a meeting of minds. Four businesses - The London Residents Club, BNBBuddy, Rent Experience and Hintown - from the UK, Portugal and Italy, respectively, met at an industry conference and decided that the timing was right for consolidation in our still nascent and very fragmented industry. We have spent the first year as a single entity collecting all of the best practices from each location and writing the ALTIDO Blueprint which we plan to roll out to other locations through strategic partnerships and acquisitions. Watch this space.
3.) Have you always worked in the hospitality industry?
No. My short career has seen me try my hand at banking, asset management, social enterprise and solar energy. I joined The London Residents Club in 2017 during an exciting period of inorganic growth, at which time we still saw ourselves as a property management business that happened to do short-term rentals. Over time I have implemented changes across the business in order to shift our focus to our guests and hospitality. We adopt the philosophy that if staff treat every interaction with our guests and owners as an opportunity to turn them into an ALTIDO ambassador, everything else will fall into place.
4.) Can you tell us a little about ALTIDO's three brands?
This is still a work in progress but it is the start of a mission to set specific standards across our portfolio to ensure guests have a seamless stay and get good value for money. For example, if a guest were to book one of our Galleria luxury homes, they can be confident that their temporary home will feature all the comforts of our standard homes but with outstanding design features, furnishings, top of the range facilities and a prime location.
5.) What services do you provide for Property Owners and Managers?
Our owner clients receive a full management service and a single % fee to pay at the end of the month. We view this as a partnership (we only earn when they do), so we make it our business to provide them with a truly flexible service that our competitors deem "not scalable". For example, our owners can provide a specific list of housekeeping instructions and our in-house team will ensure that that list adhered to every time.
Property managers can partner with is a manner of different ways but primarily we are looking for high-quality hospitality businesses who are looking to super-charge their growth, service levels and local prominence by joining ALTIDO.
6.) How can Property Owners and Managers work with ALTIDO?
Owners can contact nina.wallrock@stayaltido.com and management companies can contact me on jeremy@stayaltido.com
7.) Do you have any favourite properties that are available via ALTIDO?
In London, this Hackney flat is my favourite. We also provide booking services for this beautiful villa in Seychelles.
8.) Where are your offices based?
We are headquartered in London with offices in Edinburgh, Lisbon, Milan and branch offices in Liguria, Como, Genova and Glasgow.
9.) What sets ALTIDO aside from other travel / property rental companies?
Our mission is to become the benchmark in beyond-hotel accommodation, not the largest or fastest-growing.
10.) When you're not busy working, where can you be found?
Jumping rope in the garden. It's addictive.
