Founding Member Interview: In Conversation with Heath Houston of Arteriors Home
1.) Welcome to The LPF Insider and thank you for joining us! Who founded Arteriors and when did the business begin?
Arteriors was founded in 1987 by Mark Moussa. Arteriors is leader in sophisticated lighting, furniture, wall décor and accessories, beloved by discerning interior designer and retailers worldwide.
2.) What is your job role within the company?
I am the International Sales Manager, GM UK, US / Canada Lighting Channel Sales Manager. I was brought on board to expand home furnishings company’s international brand equity through increased sales in global distribution outlets across multiple market channels – designer, retail, lighting, contract, and hospitality.
3.) Have you always worked in the world of design / interiors?
No, however I have worked for household names such as Nike and Fossil.
4.) Arteriors is a leader in sophisticated lighting, furniture, wall décor and accessories. Who are your product designers and where are they based?
All designers are in house, except for our guest designers. They are located at our HQ in Dallas.
5.) What is Arteriors' design philosophy?
Our product designers are constantly traveling the world to bring elements of fashion and architecture to our designs, and ultimately our customers. The product design team leverages the storied techniques of master artisans to bring these ideas to life. From gilded embroidery on a gown to organic elements in nature, the challenge of reinterpreting these inspirations through handcrafted metalwork or finish techniques yields a beautiful collection that feels new yet familiar.
6.) Can you tell us a little about the 2020 collections?
Normally, we launch a Spring and a Fall collection each year. Due to COVID 19 we launched one single inspired collection with Beth Webb as our guest designer. Within each collection we have 4 “looks” or “design ethos”. This year we have Lunar Glow, Crafted Utopian, Linear Edge, and Modern Playa. They each play within what we call the elements of nature for this year’s collection with a modern interpretation. Depending on how we move forward with restrictions attached to COVID-19, we hope to have our showroom reset with the 2020 collection by November.
7.) What makes Arteriors a real industry leader?
Our design, use of materials, and each piece is different as it is all artisan made. We create statement or jewelry pieces for every room in the house. These carry over to luxury hotels, offices, restaurants, etc…
8.) When you're not busy working, where can you be found?
When I am not busy working you can find me spending quality time with my family.
