Mayfair Art Weekend 2020: New & Extended Programme of Free Events from 2 - 4 October
Mayfair Art Weekend, the annual celebration of the world’s internationally renowned gallery district, will take place this autumn from Friday 2 - Sunday 4 October 2020. This year Mayfair Art Weekend will launch with the celebrated Gallery HOP! on the opening night when galleries stay open until 8pm. The new and extended programme of events throughout October include the inaugural: Mayfair Sculpture Trail, May Fair Showreel and Mayfair Gallery Publication Award.
In October, Mayfair Art Weekend, in partnership with Art in Mayfair, will connect Oxford Street to Piccadilly, and Regent Street to Park Lane with Mayfair galleries placing art on the streets in Mayfair for the Mayfair Sculpture Trail. Visitors will be lead through Burlington Arcade, Cork Street, Bond Street and Grosvenor Square. The trail will take place from 1 - 31 October, coinciding with the opening of the Royal Academy of Arts’ Summer Exhibition.
Mayfair Sculpture Trail: 1st - 31st October
The inaugural Mayfair Sculpture Trail is a partnership with Art in Mayfair and Westminster City Council, in collaboration with Burlington Arcade, Cork Street Galleries, Art of London, Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, and Mayfair galleries.
Gallery HOP!: Friday 2nd October 6-8pm
The Gallery HOP! will continue to be a highlight, kick-starting the weekend on the evening of Friday 2 October, 5-8pm, with a special late night viewing of all the partner galleries, animating the streets of Mayfair with open access to a wide audience of art devotees, young artists, and collectors
May Fair Showreel: Sunday 4th October 12-5pm
Visitors will have the chance to see an international selection of artists’ moving image artworks at the screening of the curated May Fair Art Weekend Showreel on Sunday 4 October. Hosted by our partners, The May Fair Hotel, in their world renowned May Fair Theatre, Mayfair Art Weekend has just announced an open call for this new event, with artworks selected to be shown alongside works nominated from galleries across Mayfair.
Mayfair Gallery Publication Award: 31st October
The inaugural Mayfair Gallery Publication Award emphasises the important contributions made by Mayfair’s galleries to art research and the art world’s book trade. The winning publication, chosen by a panel of judges including journalist Hettie Judah, the RA Magazine’s editor Sam Phillips, and Apollo Magazine’s editor Thomas Marks, will be announced on 31 October.
