Introducing Naomi Pulchan, Design and Project Manager, The Garden Trellis Company
Garden Trellis Company manufactures bespoke, handmade joinery for gardens and outside spaces, residential or commercial here in England. We are a market leader for what we do.
What led you to your current position?
My background is interior design and I was given a position at GTC as a CAD assistant 8 years ago. Being outside of London in rural Suffolk, I’ve found interior design tends to involve soft furnishings rather than the technical skills I enjoy most. GTC is a nice balance of technical and visual. As I learned more about the company and our joinery, I was able to work my way up to the second top PM in the company.
Describe a typical working day in your life…
Office and site based, my workday varies quite a lot. We travel across the UK for site visits so it involves meeting clients, retail and trade; surveying and sharing our knowledge. In the office, I draw, design and liaise with our workshop to oversee the details on projects.
Are you currently working on any exciting projects?
We typically have over 100 projects of various sizes going through our system at any time. They are generally all unique and exciting, with some special projects dropped in occasionally, such as the Dior signature store.
Do you have any advice for someone looking to venture into your area of the luxury property industry?
Be interested in learning about all areas of the industry, the roles we all play and how we connect. Something that seems unrelated might be useful at some point.
What do you love most about the luxury property industry?
I love the innovation of luxury property; that we are often the first to try revolutionary materials, technology and machinery. To stay at the top, we have to keep pushing forward.
What does “luxury” mean to you?
To me luxury means the things we love and like rather than the things we need. Products and services that appeal to our aesthetic desires over basic functions.
