Introducing Alessandro Ortenzi, Founder and Operation Manager Palazzo Morelli

What does your company do and what makes it special?

In the space of just a few years, the ability of Palazzo Morelli to implement turnkey projects of a professional standard in the most exclusive resorts in the residential, hospitality, corporate, retail and yachting sectors has led it to become a prestigious benchmark in the contract furnishing sector. My company strives to be a unique partner to execute highly complex projects with state-of-the-art products Made in Italy and bespoke services, which include technical drawings, engineering, project management, logistics and installation.

Its most recent and most prestigious, international testimonials include luxury properties in the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Italy and the refurbishment of the award-winning luxury yacht Kalizma 1906.

What led you to your current position?

When starting your own business in a creative yet highly specialised and competitive industry, like a surface and interior fit-out company, there's no defined road to success. I would say that ambition and passion for hard work led me to my current position. I am particularly proud of the results that Palazzo Morelli obtained until now, and I am eager to see what and where the next years will take me and my business.

Describe a typical working day in your life...

My typical working day is very busy. I spend the majority of my time on business trips with lots of meetings and conference calls to follow up on projects, new clients and explore new business opportunities. Even if my life is very hectic, I try to stick to good habits to stay productive and focused. I believe that networking is an essential part of the typical working day because connecting with successful people helps to keep me motivated and to find exciting new business opportunities.

Are you currently working on any exciting projects?

Yes, of course. Palazzo Morelli is working on a number of very exciting projects around the world. I am very fond of a current charming residential project in Chelsea, it's been three years of challenging planning and sampling but now we've made it! There is also a luxury hospitality project in Convent Garden area, I can't share details yet but you will hear about it, and you will definitely love it.

What has been your career highlight so far?

I would say that the refurbishment of Kalizma 1906 is one of the best achievement of my carrier. The yacht once belonged to Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. I led the restoration and personally supervised the work of the local and international craftsmen involved in the shipyard in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The work was based on philological principles of restoration and conservation and enriched the interiors with a softly glamorous, elegant atmosphere to highlight the Burton-Taylor story. At the 17th annual edition of the BOAT International World Superyacht Awards, Kalizma 1906 was announced the winner of a "Judges Special Recognition Award" and was nominated for "Best Rebuilt Superyacht of 2022". You know, I am the kind of person that dares to dream big and I believe that the best is yet to come!

Do you have any advice for someone looking to venture into your area of the luxury property industry?

As I said before, there's no defined road to success in the luxury property industry and everyone has to find out one's way. Anyway I would give three tips: hard work, passion for design, networking.

What do you love most about the luxury property industry?

I love the luxury property industry because it allows me to travel a lot to the most exclusive and beautiful locations around the world, to meet successful people and talented interior designers and architects. Furthermore, this market segment fully understands the upper quality of Made in Italy custom-made surfaces and interior fit-out. It's amazing how exciting the industry could be.

What does "luxury" mean to you?

This is an interesting question as everyone talks about luxury but if you ask ten people what luxury means, you will be given ten different answers.

I would say that luxury is a complex concept with many shades. To me, luxury is a total experience, a blend of aesthetics, quality, customization, pleasure, and exclusivity. This is my vision and the idea of luxury at the base of every one of Palazzo Morelli's projects.
