Known for their commitment to innovation, quality, and craftsmanship, Molteni&C has played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of luxury living worldwide.
Molteni&C has been a leader in the high-end furniture industry since its founding in 1934 in Giussano, just north of Milan. Renowned for its commitment to quality, innovation, and craftsmanship, the company has become synonymous with the evolution of modern living, collaborating with some of the world’s most celebrated architects and designers.
Marking its 90th anniversary in 2024, Molteni&C celebrates this milestone with the release of “Molteni Mondo. An Italian Design Story,” the first comprehensive monograph dedicated to the identity, history, and values of the company. Published by Rizzoli New York, the book is curated by Spencer Bailey, writer and co-founder of The Slowdown, with art direction by Beda Achermann, a visionary in the fashion world and former creative director of L’Uomo Vogue Germany. This object-book offers an unexpected editorial project, rich in cinematic language and style. The monograph opens with the set of the Compound in Brianza and closes with the legendary Gio Ponti and his Archive, weaving a narrative that reflects Molteni&C’s magnificent “obsession with Quality”.
This book is more than a historical account; it is a dynamic platform connecting words and images, actions, and projects. It tells the story of Molteni&C’s journey through collaborations with great designers and architects, the evolution of its craftsmanship, its embrace of digital and technological innovation, and its unwavering commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. Molteni Mondo captures the essence of a company that has always been in dialogue with new worlds, continuously evolving to meet the needs and desires of contemporary living and responding with new skills to special projects worldwide, contract and custom-made.
Following its global preview during Salone Del Mobile at Milan Design Week, we are delighted to invite you to the UK’s very first launch of “Molteni Mondo. An Italian Design Story,” on Thursday, 19th September at the Molteni&C Flagship Store, 245-249 Brompton Road, London. The evening promises to be a celebration of design and culture, featuring an exclusive cocktail party with DJ set from Mary Charteris, from 6:30 to 9:00 pm.
