Interior Designer Lauren Lozano Ziol and Graphic Designer Michelle Jolas created SKIN in January 2017, a Chicago-based interior design and lifestyle brand that is set to launch in London this autumn. The founders have over 40 years of industry experience behind them and they’re regularly sought-after by some well-known brands. They cater to clients with large projects, but also offer design packages for smaller projects, private residential clients, developers, and commercial and hospitality spaces.

Lauren and Michelle take a unique approach for each of their projects, each of which showcases their classic yet edgy trademark look, combining styles, such as a Louis IV table with Milo Baughman chairs. They listen to their clients’ needs as well as applying their own signature touches to projects, so that every project is just as much of a SKIN interior design look and feel as it is a reflection of the layers of diversity of their clients.

SKIN’s name reflects the founders belief that environments should be more than ‘skin deep’; that creating beautiful spaces will inspire and unlock a person’s true self, inner confidence, passion, and creativity. The SKIN duo bring an international perspective to their work, sourcing key pieces from cities around the world to curate spaces with a unique and timeless quality.

In order to expand the lifestyle experience SKIN can offer, the founders recently introduced ‘customisable luxury interior design shopping excursions’ for clients in London, Paris and San Francisco. SKIN features Lauren's furniture line and Michelle's photography and vintage jewellery collections, offering more personal touches from these two creative ladies. Also new to the business is the Trinity Luxury Group, a team on a mission to restore beautiful, European Châteaus into art-inspired luxury hotels and havens of creativity.

Just when I thought Lauren and Michelle could not possibly be any more dynamic, they have launched a charity, Projekt SKIN. This thoughtful charitable enterprise will see that a portion of the company’s proceeds go towards providing interior design services for spaces or places in need - for example, they have recently helped a soup kitchen and a homeless shelter.

Lauren and Michelle say, “SKIN believes that environments influence how you feel, meaning good design should be for everyone.”
