Imogen Buxton

Associate Director at LXA Projects

Imogen Buxton is a shining example of a rising star in the luxury property industry. Nominated by Richard Parton, Managing Director at LXA Projects, he shares that in the last three years, her invaluable contributions have played a pivotal role in not only elevating the esteemed LXA brand but also solidifying its prominent position within the Luxury Property Sector. Her efforts have garnered well-deserved recognition, establishing her as a highly regarded figure in the industry. The impact of her work resonates far and wide, marking a significant and enduring influence on the success and reputation of the LXA brand within the competitive landscape of the luxury property sector.

Hi Imogen, so great to have you here. Please could you tell us about your proudest career moment so far?

Never an easy question! I am immensely proud of the relationships I have grown over the last few years, especially within the LPF, putting LXA as a real contender in the Luxury Property world has given me a real sense of achievement. I hope I have done this by sticking by my own morals and working with likeminded people!

Have you faced moments of doubt in your career, and how did you overcome them?

Massively! In a previous role I was constantly criticised by a micromanager who was unable to provide constructive feedback or implement a training plan to help support me. Finally realising that I needed to leave that position, I moved onto another role where I was encouraged to have an opinion and autonomy. Positive reinforcement and validation and so important in managing people, I would always choose to focus on this that constantly pick and the negatives.

What do you think are the main challenges women face in the luxury property industry, and how can they be addressed?

I believe there is a still a 'glass ceiling' with most of our companies still being run by white men. This needs to change. Furthermore, I have, on occasion, be dismissed by these 'white men' when trying to contribute to meetings. This needs to change.

Who has been your biggest supporter, and how have they empowered you?

Without a doubt my biggest support has to be my mum - she showed me what it was to be a strong woman, balancing a career, family and life. However, I can't not mention Richard Parton, Dave Rooney and James Forrest-Lines, who have given me continued support and platforms to drive myself forward.

Reflecting on your journey, what advice would you give to young women starting their careers?

Back yourself, but ensure you have the knowledge to do so. And be kind, to yourself and to others, it is the most important thing.

Looking ahead, what are your goals for the future?

I want to continue to push the construction industry in a positive direction, empowering, nurturing and supporting the next generation!
