Hi Poppy, so great to have you here. Please could you tell us about your proudest career moment so far?

My proudest moment in my career so far has been launching my own business, House of Red, in 2023. It has taught me to have confidence in my abilities and to learn to champion myself as much as I champion others..

Have you faced moments of doubt in your career, and how did you overcome them?

During the early stages of my career, I placed too much weight on others' opinions to guide my own path, only to later realise that many lacked the understanding or impartiality necessary to offer valuable guidance. It became clear that some individuals were driven more by their personal agendas rather than genuine expertise. Over time I have learnt it is ok to trust my own judgment and be my own counsel. You cannot, will not and should not try please all.

What do you think are the main challenges women face in the luxury property industry, and how can they be addressed?

The property industry has historically been a very male orientated sector. I am aware of experiences where female leadership has been questioned in the form of perceived competence or suitability, due to a strong male environment. There needs to be more support in building confidence so women in leadership is common place, and self-worth is promoted in a positive manner for all..

Who has been your biggest supporter, and how have they empowered you?

Looking after a vast team in my previous company and helping to support them to develop and move forward in their career has always been rewarding. Their continuous positive feedback on my management style and work, and the longevity of our relationships has always empowered me to feel I have been moving in the right direction. Seeing them thrive and achieve great things taught me that the unknown is not a scary place to venture; this helped when setting up House of Red to feel an exciting and positive step forward.

Reflecting on your journey, what advice would you give to young women starting their careers?

Be bold! Learn to trust your intuition and to take risks as it’s the greatest and fastest way to find out about yourself, what you are capable of, and allowing yourself to be part of something you might have otherwise missed if sitting on the side lines. Mistakes are not negatives; they are simply growth.

Looking ahead, what are your goals for the future?

I’m excited to meet new clients and connections, build new relationships, and to hopefully grow my brand visibility within the sector I’ve worked so long and hard in.
